Saint-Tropez

Cap Saint-Pierre, on the village side of the peninsula.

Where a villa sits on this peninsula decides how the week goes. Les Parcs is north-east of the village, on the gulf. Pampelonne and the beach clubs are on the far side, beyond the town.

The property seen from the air in daylight: the house and pool in a stand of umbrella pines, with the bay and the town beyond.

Which side you are on

The village side. Nothing to cross to reach it.

From Les Parcs the port, the old town and the Place des Lices are all reached along the gulf, on the same side of the peninsula. The estate faces the bay of Canoubiers, which looks west at the Maures and takes the sunset.

The sea is in sight from inside the house and from the garden — not a view you have to walk out and find.

Arriving

La Môle 17 km. Toulon-Hyères 49 km. Nice by boat, May to September.

La Môle-Saint-Tropez, 17 km from the village, takes private aircraft and helicopters. Toulon-Hyères is about an hour by road. From Nice it is around two and a half hours by sea, in season.

Or arrive by water

Shuttles from Sainte-Maxime, Port Grimaud, Les Issambres and Les Marines de Cogolin.

The shuttle boats cross the gulf and land at the port, on the estate's side of the water. It is the finest way in, and the approach is the part people remember.

How long everything takes

Two figures, because July and August are not the rest of the year.

Which is rather the point of the address: in the weeks when the village is forty minutes away, the beach is still two.

The village

The old port, the old town, the Place des Lices.

Painted fishing boats still moor in front of the yachts. Ten minutes off the quay the streets go quiet.

The old port of Saint-Tropez: painted wooden fishing boats moored in the foreground, ochre facades and the bell tower behind, large yachts along the far quay.
A long red awning over rows of red chairs and tables on the quayside terrace of the Senequier cafe.
The Place des Lices under old plane trees, gravel underfoot, benches along the edge of the square.
A corner of the old town: shuttered stone facades, a small restaurant terrace and a chalkboard menu in the shade.

Market days

Place des Lices, Tuesday and Saturday, 8am to 1pm.

Ramatuelle holds its own on Thursday and Sunday mornings, on the Place de l'Ormeau, year round.

The Moke, and what else comes with the villa
A white open-sided Moke parked on the gravel drive in front of a dry-stone wall, with people aboard.
A sandy beach on the bay, towels laid out on the sand, shallow water and a low jetty in the distance.

The beaches

One inside the estate, minutes away. Pampelonne, 4.5 km of sand, beyond the village.

The estate beach sits on the calm northern side of the peninsula. Pampelonne and the beach clubs lie in the commune of Ramatuelle, about five kilometres south-east of the village.
